I thought I would share our new timing system with everyone. Its been tested a few times now and no problems. Even works great in rally-x conditions!!!
Here it is, dont laugh when you see FarmTek. hehe Mark at Farmtek has done as awesome job working with us to make this system work with the Axware Software (Computer timing interface). We started with just the basic timing system just to make sure everything would work as it was suppose to, with that being a great success, we ordered up all the accessories. So far we are more than happy with this system. Setup is oh so simple, no need to perfectly align the wireless eyes. Our display is even wireless, no need to run cables for anything!!!

Comes with a nice handy-dandy case:

Hope all of you get a chance to attend our auto-x events and check out this sweet system!!!

So, this thing is completely wireless? May have some people in the Minnesota Autosports club interested in learning more about it if you don't mind. Can you PM me your number if you don't mind someone calling you about it?

Thanks!!

email sent!
And yes, pretty much completely wireless. Everything is battery operated accept the timing board which requires 110 (or Car battery with power inverter)

Are you timing multiple cars with this? Didn't get your e-mail, try this address:
patw -at - fmfab - dot - com
We're looking at it, but it looks like it only times one at a time. Thanks!

It will do 3 cars at a time and it remembers times from 100 previous runs.
Our old JAC timer would do 8 cars at a time, but rarely do you time more than 3 anyways.

I will send you a PM instead this time.
Yes, this will do 3 cars at a time with no problem. I'd be willing to maybe come to one of your events and do your timing for ya or something.

Thanks a lot. I guess we need it to be able to do 4 cars. Very nice little setup though...we got timing system envy! Gave us some idea's though...we will probably go wireless like you guys. We have some sites that we have to stretch out 500' or more of wire!

Awesome, hope I get to see it in action this year.

Soooooo no one can run over a wire and shut the race down??
This is a good thing.

Correct. But there are still sensors that can be hit.

The timing system worked great at Shawano. The display could easily been seen from the pits despite how far away it was and in the bright sunlight.

Well, got some AWESOME news. After a little bit of calling back and forth to Axware and Farmtek, the timer works Flawless with Axware. This is SOOO cool!

Just got an email, new update for our timing system.
We already got the 7 car update, but there are a few new little things that would be nice to have. Since we wont need the timer for about a month, I'd like to send both FVSCC and CWSCC's timers in.
New Autocross Features
(Based on the purchase date, your system may already have a subset of these features)
• The timer supports up to seven vehicles on course at the same time.
• For start beam breaks, the timer console sounds a single beep. For finish beam breaks, the timer console sounds a short double-beep.
• The large numeric display on the timer console displays and holds each finish time for five seconds, after which, it returns to showing the running time of the next car in line to finish. The hold time is adjustable. The finish time is still shown on the smaller status display as well. Times on the large numeric display are easier to read than on the status display.
• The scoreboard displays and holds each finish time for five seconds, after which, it returns to showing the running time of the next car in line to finish. The hold time is adjustable. The hold time now “works” even if a new car starts the timer and is the only car on course. Previously, the first car on course would cancel the hold time of the most recent finish.
• The scoreboard can be set to display only finish times – no running times at all.
• The timer can drive scoreboards from RaceAmerica and other manufacturers that support the Chronomix data format. Running times are not displayed on these scoreboards – only finish times. These scoreboards are not supported by our wireless scoreboard interface.
• The timer’s computer output can emulate a variety of popular timers on the market. This makes interfacing to third party software packages very simple:
TAG Heuer (CP520, CP504, CP705)
JA-Circuits normal mode (or any Chronomix format like RaceAmerica AC4)
JA-Circuits chrono mode (separate start and finish)
RaceAmerica T-Link
• Commands to clear an accidental start beam break (e.g., “Reset Start”), or to clear an accidental finish beam break (e.g., “Reset Finish”) are now transmitted over the computer interface when the corresponding button is pressed on the timer console. This automatically keeps the timer console and the computer software in sync (if supported by the chosen interface type and the software package).
• Up to two additional sets of electric eyes can be added to provide split time data (“sector timing”) to the computer. When running just a single car at a time, the split time data can be displayed on the timer and scoreboard as well.

Farmtek, which has now changed their name to "Electronic Sports Timing," (I wonder why....) have grown very rapidly. It’s really something to say FVSCC was the first (or one of the) to really adopt their timing for autox use. I remember calling Axware and farmtek several times just to get the 2 to sync up with each other. Now they offer a full turnkey solution which I know several other clubs have purchased this system. I've made a post on the SCCAforums and it turns out many clubs all around the US are now using Farmtek. Some clubs in fact bought 2 full systems (still cheaper than 1 Race America system) just to have a spare.
It won’t be long before SCCA turns to farmtek as the official timing of SCCA and Race America goes broke.
I also REALLY love Farmtek's customer service. Couldn’t ask for better.

If you could throw it in a box or something and just drop it off at my house that would be great. I can PM you my address.

I know tom has wanted to do this at events:

I'll be going there Saturday if you want me to come pick it up from you Matt, that way Jess doesn't have to make a special trip or try and find Andy's house. Up to you.

Let me know what day she plans to drop it off so I know to look for it. If she can drop it off monday that'd be great. I already have an open ticket order with Farmtek.
