Wait, do I need 3rd or forth gear for ice racing?

Only if you WANT 3rd or 4th.....and to get there, if you can go 1-2-5th and that's fine with you, no one else cares haha

PoisonBeef

I have been driving with no 3rd/4th for 3 weeks.

On the ice do I need it? or is this like autox where 2nd is about all you need.

Kiesgen117

depends on car, tires and driver, most likely if your not studded you wont need anything over second.

I never left 2nd gear. I went to 3rd a few times but always wanted to be back to 2nd right away.

Sounds good.

Chipotlis=Bad. The chicken burrito made it on a list as one of the worst fast foods you can eat.

I vote for Fuddruckers or Texas Road House.

I'll be there. I wont be running anything as my front tires are bald and my rears are nearly so. Hopefully next week I can get the Saab mounted with the Blizzaks sitting in my backseat. Anyone know of a cheap reputable tire place for mounting/balancing? Also anyone who can straighten a rim in the green bay/appleton/oshkosh area?

SgtRauksauff
01-07-2010, 08:47 PM
balancing? who balances tires? I haven't run a balanced tire in 2+ years, and haven't had any issues. Of course, at around 83mph, there IS a slight shimmy that becomes apparent at about 83mph. Which is fine, because those 155/80-13's shouldn't go that fast anyway.

Interesting note, that size Winterforce tire is only 31 bucks each at Tire Rack. lol!! I should downgrade the brakes on my other mazdas, just to be able to run the 13's in winter!!

I may be there, but there's a good chance that I'll end up missing the first event, if the ice is thick enough this weekend.

When you have a bent rim... You want your tires balanced after the said rim is fixed.

PoisonBeef

I didn't balance my snow tires after I swapped around rims.

About two weeks later I did. It was bad, mmmkay?

lol, I was being a bit facetious about the whole no-balance thing. Granted, with todays manufacturing methods, the tires and wheels are MUCH more balanced than they used to be back in the 70's, so not as much is needed usually, but it's still a good idea to do. unbalance causes vibration, and even if you don't feel it, your drivetrain does, and gets prematurely worn because of it..

Wow that is a good price.
I have a guy that does it for me for pretty cheap, but he doesn't want tme to share his name. But last time he didn't have the right cone for balancing the rims I have. I called 3 places for balancing prices. 1 @ $7.00 ea, 1 @ $8.00 ea and Walmart @ $5.00 ea. I'll have to keep Fleet Farm in mind.
