Are you going to race this car with us?
It looks fast as hell.

Yes, but it needs a bit of work.
I also have another one that I will be installing a 12 point cage in, and a tubular front end. Also, carbon fiber fenders/roof/doors..etc..
Then I will switch all the goodies from the 240z into the 260z.
I weighed this one today, and it weighs 2560lbs.

Well get to work. Next season should be starting in April.

Yes.
The only thing is now, I have plenty of room, but not as much money, because I just bought a house. It has a 3 car attached garage, so that's where I'll be spending a lot of time, I'm sure.
I plan on building my 260z, and swapping the parts over from this one.
It will have a 12 point roll cage, all new raised floor pans, and low profile sub frame connectors, so I can slam that sucker down to the ground.

That is VERY awesome. Those cars have such character just sitting there. I'm a little jealous. Keep us updated.

It weighed in at 2560lbs, with 6 gallons of fuel.
I will be building the 260z with a full 12 point roll cage, and try to lighten it up as much as possible.

There are a lot of bugs in the tuning of the car that will have to be worked out. I will work on rewiring everything and possibly running megasquirt over the winter.
Also, I hope to complete the other datsun's frame and chassis work to begin swapping the parts over.

I had a 240 once upon a time. Very fun car.
There is a thread in the for sale section that has some fiberglass body parts if you're interested.
Anyway I was just thinkin' yesterday when I passed a neon that had a few stickers stating that it ran on CNG (compressed natural gas). So then I thought, It would be really cool to build a 240 with a V8 that ran on CNG. Put a fill station in the garage (not sure if that's legal in WI) and make it my summer DD/autocross toy. Hmmm, maybe someday......

Natural gas had a very high octane rating also.
Only problem is the compressed gas requires a heavy and much larger tank to get the same amount of energy out of it compared to gasoline.

i've seen some cars run on propane. its also got a real high octane rating. you could even exchange your 20lb tank at most gas stations. its suppose to burn very clean as well.

20lb tank. LOL that might get you around the block a few times.

My dad worked for the gas & elec. company and when he made supervisor back in the early 90's they gave him a CNG powered car. Had no trunk room what-so-ever as the tank was mounted there. Not sure what the tank was made of, but it was wrapped in what looked like fiberglass. Probably 20" in dia. if not more.
Not sure what is available today in regard to CNG tanks, and what would be approved for a road going vehicle, but I was thinking a scuba tank or 3. They are pumped up to 3500 psi. That should get you around the block more than a few times. And they make them out of aluminum too.
I know Honda made/makes a CNG Civic. As for cost of operation compared to gasoline they get something like 100mpg.
I should look into this just out of curiosity.
