USAIR: Dates for events at Shawano

USAIR has contacted me and wanted to know what dates I would like for the 2009 season.

Dates for 2009 at USAIR:

April 5th - Lapping day
May 31st - Lapping day
July 12th - Auto x
Aug. 30th - Auto x
Sept. 13th - Lapping day

Based on what I saw from results of people coming out to events;
-I'd say 2 lapping days is still good; they managed to fill up, however not 'til the last week
-But I think we should try to get 3 autocrosses going there this year, since they seemed to have no issues having people show up

Again, this is just my opinion. But 4 events is fine, and as long as they land on Sundays, anything is good for me, summer Saturdays tend to be hit-or-miss for me for working.

Seems success for USAIR events is quantity sensitive.
We have gone from too many> 07 to, maybe one too few> 08.

I think the issue is also the loss of a popular AX venue (T-Rs) which hurt the year's total registrations.

If we could find a new popular AX site it would take the pressure off USAIR events.

This WI thing really requires you cram all the fun into a relatively short season.

Tom - as I mentioned to you, I proposed at our planning session that people interested in a track day from the Miata club just take part in a FVSCC track day. I got good agreement. We (Badgerland Miata) have June 21 (Fathers Day) penciled in on our calendar for a FVSCC track day.

If you're still looking for input on dates for track days, our calendar is a bit sparse for late September...

Since I'm a fully fledged member of the FVSCC I should make a few other events. I might try for the April 5th event to help sort out the car for Road America event Mid April. I'm just a little worried I will have to use snow tires as it might still be to cold for slicks.:).

What's the deal with the red car? Did they fix it for you?

Meth - not the hot ticket for a road course car. Meth can slosh in the tank and starve the pump. The meth pump can quit working. Meth gets into your engine oil. Meth tank runs empty.

All these can lead to disaster.

meth on a road-race car isn’t ideal. Your priorities should be safety, reliability, and performance. in that order. meth is not safe, nor does it help the reliability of the car.

Well the red car would just be on the track one or two times a year... I could do an after cooler but will have to look into my options once I get the car back.

I am not in over my head with that car. King built my motor "wrong" and now the car has turned into a science experiment. They don't know what they should do to keep my head gasket from blowing over and over. I took my car in in spring with popping and breaking up issues. The head gasket was blown since the day they put the motor together last year, the crower cam was already pitting and deteriorating, and they also decided to increase my compression from 10.53 to about 11.5 (with a supercharger- way tooooo high). I pick it up and am driving it home and it smells like coolant so I called them with my concerns. They said there was no problem and they knew in 2 days the car was getting tracked at RA. When I was there the CEL came on just like last year so I called them again the day after and told them the issues. They were too busy to look at my car that week and told me it couldn't be blown again.

I took in in the following week and the leak down test came back bad on 2 cylinders. They kept the car there and said they would take care of me. They pulled the motor that day and found 2 or 3 of my custom Wiseco pistons and they have had my car for almost 3 months at this point :( It does nothing but make my angry that all this stuff has happened since all I wanted was a more reliable motor with the supercharger. I don't know if I am going to be stuck with another enormous bill and if I am I will not have the car back this year, who knows if I even will have it back either way.

I bought an ep3 as a daily from one of my friends, bought not built :( But it has wilwood brakes, stainless steel clutch lines, tein ss coilvers, work emotions rims with reo1r tires on it, cf hood, mugen bumper, hfp wing, type r lip kit, k pro, mugen air box, etc.... It will come to the track in august if it still has tires left :)

Anyone willing to haul some tires for me to the track? I would really prefer not to drive on them considering how soft they are.

I drove my car with %40 worn Hoosier A6's (40 treadwear tirez) on a 1hr 45min drive from the track.

If your worried about it, I'd make a trailer then TK can quit calling you names. Ha ;)

well my car pwns me. she decided to blow a headlight bulb (d2s hid no less) i wont be running due to my budget giving me the finger that is unless mt parts guy can get me a replacement bulb from teh scrap yard. but i doubt it.

my friend brandon has a srt4 he is on the fence, he has quite a bit to do this wekekend, but he has a 50/50 chance of showing up and paying at the gate, my friend jamie is running my pirate car, i m signing him up online tomorrow. he is interested in becoming a member if there are any more events coming up, they are both interested in doing membership for next year, and doug may run my car for half the day that he is undeterminded which half. and brandons brother may show up in a honda prelude if his bro goes. so after tomorrow night i ll have 2 (including me) for sure, and 3 maybe. and i have a bunch of challenges out to shit talkers and offered pirate car seat time. im pitching the event as hard as i can. it just sucks there is like a wedding every day of every weekend this month.............pssssh wedding vs. racing, easy choice, we all know it s gonna end in divorce anyways;)

Just did a few things to the coupe- Hawk Blue brake pads awesome for stopping- not so awesome for disintegrating away all over my rims and car. Changing those out ASAP next week. Also swapped over my rims and tires on that car too :)

When I bought the ep3 that was the case. The previous owner let it bake on so I got the rims powder coated. So for both cars I put wax on the front rims but didn't take it off. From last night to today so far there is no brake dust on the rims :)
Hopefully will work for tomorrow too!

Sorry guys, that was me with the Evo X. It was my front lip, undertray, and a wheel well. Also another Evo IX's lip, and undertray I think.

I was going out for my second time lap trying to beat my previous time, sad to say that this happened on my warm up lap, and I wasn't even going as fast. Strange that we both slid off at the same spot. After I came thru the other side of the grass, I didn't know that I left that much of souvenir for Tom to pick up. But I never like the chrome on the MR anyway, time to put a GSR bumper on. :)

Ya oem honda is the way to be. I get all my parts at cost anyways so my bill there for the parts was $384.

"Super honda's" driver was slightly sketched with the brakes too after that. I didn't want to eat anymore fences and wreck more than what I did on the car.

I would autocross but it is Le Man weekend and I will be camping out at Road America all weekend. Plus can't be spending any money right now, have to fix the front end.

It was an awesome day and I am very happy you let me keep going at the end :)

Not winter tires, those are all season tires. And I think the C6 rims have a different offset than the C5 rims.
