Default Panavise Camera Mount

I know a few of you were asking about the camera mount that I was using. It is the Panavise 809 mount. I found about the cheapest place with the fastest shipping was Provantage, here is the link http://www.provantage.com/panavise-809~7PANV00T.htm

You should mount that on the top middle of the windshield. At least that's a view I'd like to see.

I just ordered "The Cleat" from Filmtools.com. Was trying to get the "Cruisecam headrest camera mount" but the company that makes it found there were some problems with it and put the production on hold about 3 or 4 months ago and I was told that it would take several more months for them to solve the issue. So whatever on that front.

Headrest mounts can be made in about 30 minutes with some 2x4s in the shop.

^ that works nice if your car has headrests that are not fixed into the seat, neither my Ford or Nissan have adjustable headrests

Be careful when making a camera mount out of 2X4's, I've made about 4 camera mounts between 3 cars before finally getting the formula right in my opinion, but also know where you will be using the mount before you purchase one. Example: headrest mounts are not allowed in NASA because there is a risk during a collision of having the mount go through your neck. If you look at my mount we designed it so that it would hit solid not stab through. So if you want help with building a mount check out my design it is completely adjustable so that it works on multiple vehicles, has the ability to have up to 5 tripod heads mounted to it at once (thats alot of cameras ) and mine has extra holes for mounting ratchet straps to help avoid nasty leans and vibrations (image stabilization can't stop a car vibrating out of control completely) and use some sort of clamping method for attaching to the head rests rather than sized up holes. Most times in the build process trying to put something straight through a hole to hit your mark is very difficult if you anticipate a perfect drill. Tripod heads. The part that attaches the camera to the mount is very important if you plan on building your own. I have a manfrotto head on my mount that offers a forward back and side to side adjustibility for making a straight flat picture, but also a rotating head. Most camera heads don't offer a side to side adjustment, and make sure it bolts up!! I hope these considerations help if you are building your own, and feel free to stop by my little subaru
