Default SCCA Lake Superior Region Autocross event on August 25-26

For those of you who had a good time up at Sawyer a few weeks back, you can have a big helping of seconds on August 25-26. I checked other clubs, and it appears to be an open weekend for FVSCC, CWSCC, and SCCA Milwaukee. One of the things that was really neat about our July event was seeing the drivers from different clubs running against each other, comparing notes, and making new friends.

Our goal is to have 24 runs over the weekend, and to design a fast, Nationals-style course. I wanted to duplicate the SCCA Nationals West Course from last year, but the Russians got in the way (if you know what I mean) and we had to make the appropriate course adjustments. So it is similar, but not exactly the same.

Pre-registration is now open at the link below. This is not a FVSCC points event.

Hope to see you there!

Jim

The July Sawyer event was my first time there and it was such a blast! As everyone else has told me: "You really need to go to this!"

I stupidly missed the sign up for the Aug. 12th Road America event, so I guess that I'll have to go back to Sawyer!

There is one added feature this weekend: Sands Speedway, located about 5 miles north of Sawyer Airport, has a Stock Car racing program Saturday night, starting shortly after we will be wrapping up on Saturday. And for those of you that are feeling adventurous, they will be having two lap, standing start, side-by-side spectator eliminator races at intermission. Any street legal car is eligible to compete, and experienced autocrossers usually clean up in these events. Austin can tell you how much fun these things are to watch.

Default Sawyer is amazing!

I'm heading there this weekend, and I'm sure the weather will work out for us.

If you're in the fence, or know someone who might go, please take the opportunity to run on the best tarmac with a fun fast course and good people. Encourage your friends!
